This was a great external hard drive for back ups until it broke. I've had to travel a lot for school in the last year and frequently packed it carefully when I went on the road. Today however somehow it is the only thing that somehow didn't survive. It wasn't dropped or crushed. The light still comes on when I power it up but the hard drive doesn't even attempt to spin. It's silent. This is the last Iomega product I will buy. It's a shame because if it wasn't so fragile I would rate it quite highly.

I wanted a simple, straight forward drive to use for back-up with my Macs Time Machine. Nothing could be simpler than this external usb drive from Iomega. Take it out of the box, plug the power cord in, plug the USB cable into the Mac, and the software took over from there. As part of purchasing a drive from Iomega, they include back-up software (that you download fro the web). While Ive used Iomega products in the past, I had no need to use the software, as it was redundant to TIme Machine. However, since the drive is also PC compatible, the software would definitely come in handy. Iomega Prestige 1.5 Tb Usb 2.0 External Harddisk Drive Out of the box and ready to go.
