I've had good experiences with Iomega drives in the past but the UltraMax 34495 1.5TB external has been buggy right out of the box. I'm running A dual intel MAC using a firewire 400 cable to the drive. The drive occasionally ejects itself making it useless. When using the drive with Time Machine it'll suddenly stop in the middle of a backup spitting out an error. Twice now my computer has frozen for over 30 min. If I force the computer to restart while the UltraMax is still powered on the computer won't boot up. If I turn the UltraMax off the computer will successfully boot up.<br /><br />It's been nothing but problems. The only reason I haven't returned it is because I reformatted my computer and 1 TB of info. is on this drive. I can't send it back or I'll lose everything. Also Iomega makes it a real pain to register an external drive. I'd have to fill something out and fax over a receipt of purchase which still won't get me two drives at once.<br /><br />It's possible I got one of the only buggy ones but I'd go for something a little more reliable if you're serious about performance.
